How to get a password from a MikroTik backup

Can I recover a MikroTik password from a backup online?

Yes. Upload your RouterOS .backup file and Recovery extracts stored credentials — PPP secrets, hotspot users and VPN-client passwords — directly in the browser, with no software to install.

Does it work with encrypted RouterOS backups?

Yes. If you know the backup password, enter it. If not, signed-in users can run a wordlist to try to recover it. Anonymous uploads support known-password decryption only.

Can I restore the MikroTik admin (/user) password?

On RouterOS 6.43 and older, system user passwords can be decoded. From RouterOS 6.45 they are stored as irreversible hashes and cannot be recovered — but PPP, VPN and other service passwords still can.
